About Naimah

Naimah is an award winning belly dancer from Baltimore, MD who won the title of 2009 Bellydance Nationals Alternative Fusion Soloist Champion and the People’s Choice award. She is also the director of the 2010 Belly Dance Nationals’ Alternative Fusion Troupe Champions, Amandari Dance Company. She has also trained several other award winning dancers.

Naimah began exploring the art of belly dance in 1999 with a background in ballet, modern, hip hop, and African dance since the age of 5. She has studied belly dance with well known local and formerly local talent such as Devra Johari, Antonia, Lotus Niraja, and Piper as well as many sought after dancers from around the world. Her belly dance career began with Egyptian style Cabaret and has since found her niche in modern forms of belly dance. She is always seeking ways to be more expressive and create theatrical art. Her style is oftentimes experimental while not losing sight of the dances’ cultural origins and can be best described as eclectic and eccentric.

In addition to belly dance, Naimah is an artist, makeup artist, and life figure drawing art model who graduated from Carver Center For Arts and Technology and studied apparel/costume design, dance and visual arts in multiple colleges. She focuses on exploring the art in the dance to find every opportunity to present visual imagery with appealing compositions in her choreographies and compelling stage presence. Naimah also offers classes to help dancers become physically and artistically stronger. Sign up HERE to expand your artistry!
